Pledging love together in the presence of those who matter
Getting Married? Congratulations!
Weddings are beautiful occasions, but often very stressful for the prospective bride and groom - all that planning and preparation can become a burden. Countless times Ministers have met with stressed couples, ready with their checklist, wanting to tick of the "ceremony venue" box, ready to move on to the next item. The first question usually asked is, "Why a Church Wedding?" - and the answers are as varied as the couples themselves. Most have a connection with the church in one way or another - either through childhood attendance, regular and current involvement or relatives attending. Some simply like the buildings, others sense a "rightness" about the ceremony taking place in holy space. Whatever your reason, make contact and have a chat with the Rector, who will be happy to help as you prepare for your big day.
What is different about a church wedding as opposed to a Civil Ceremony?
A marriage ceremony, wherever it is held, is a public declaration of love and commitment to your partner.
A church wedding is both a service of celebration and of worship, and therefore adds a dimension to this: a reassurance that God is involved in your lives and relationship, and that God's strength is there to help you, as are the Celebrant and community of faith. This does not mean that life will necessarily be easier, that the usual ups-and-downs of married life will never arise, but that there are resources and people to help you in your journey together, should you need them - An "after-sales service" if you like, but as with all marriages, there are no guarantees.
